Aging & Accepting It

My mother and I have aged to the big even number: 40th & 60th respectively. This year we are planning a little mother and daughter vacation to celebrate our big birthday. I called my mother this morning and she's in the process of planning our 80th & 60th birthday while I'm still planning for this year at Morro Bay, California.

I love spending time with my beautiful mother and I'm looking forward to several years together. While enjoying dinner with family, one person grumbled about the turkey neck and jowls of age. My mother gracefully laughed, pinched her chin and said, "Oh, just deal with it. Accept what you've been given and be happy rather being an old nag." Yes, I have shafts of gray in my hair, laughing wrinkles than sad frown lines and the early stages of the dreaded turkey neck. The money that I do have in my pocket will be better spent on a nice vacation with my mom instead of keeping up appearances.

What do you have planned for this year? Do you plan on celebrating any milestones or hurdles? Have you ever taken a trip solely with a parent?

You (and your mother!) deserve the highest compliments for your robust life attitudes!
